Flood Update

Heavy rains since August have caused the level of the Mekong River to rise. Cambodia, being on its banks, is naturally affected. Several provinces in the country were flooded, some of those are Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kratie, Preah Vihear and Banteay Meanchey among others. Since these provinces are major tourist destinations of the kingdom, visitors were affected and and a little bit inconvenienced. Local families living in the affected areas were also suffering from the effects.

As of the moment, efforts have been undertaken to help ease the effects of the flood to both locals and tourists. Water level in the provinces mentioned are slowly going down. The kingdom is hoping that the rain will slow down so as to keep the river from rising more.

Despite the flood situation, tourism in Cambodia is still on the go. Major tourist destinations in Cambodia are still accessible. Tours are carried out as scheduled, aside from some minor disruptions and changes of itineraries.

More updates will be posted.
