Cambodia's Tourism Industry Incessantly Growing

Cambodia Ministry of Tourism announced a 13.2% increase in tourist arrivals in the period of January to May 2011. Over 1 million tourists arrived in the country, signifying a huge difference compared to the same period of last year.
The government just signed an MOU with the National Institute of Poly-technique in Phnom Penh with the aim of expanding more skills and developing human resources to turn the country into a world class tourism destination and implement standards to make Cambodia a regional tourism hub.

H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, is expecting 2.7 to 2.8 million tourists to flock into the country by the end of 2011. He further said that the government is, now more than ever, focused on expanding and improving the tourism industry in the country, as it is one of the major life-support of Cambodia's economy. In addition, he also said that the country projects 3.1 million tourist arrivals in 2012, 4.5 milliom in 2015 and 7 million in 2020. These are huge projections, and the Royal government of Cambodia is very confident that this is achievable, considering the fact that tourism industry is one of the government's top priorities.
